Our mission

The Peggy Society is a community of peers who formerly interned at The Peggy Guggenheim Collection. (Re)connecting through a variety of programming, networking, and social events, we aim to foster opportunities for mentorship and professional development in the spirit of Peggy’s cultural legacy.

Our story

The Peggy Society was founded in 2014 by Peggy Guggenheim Collection internship alumnae Allegra Thoresen, Aurica Kastner, and Tracy Kinnally. Upon moving to New York, inspired by the internship’s intimate, collegial, and stimulating environment, they sought to build a network that would bring together this passionate and international group of individuals.

Since then, The Peggy Society has developed a dynamic program of cultural events and social gatherings. Alumni have hosted the group for private and educational tours at The Noguchi Museum, The Met, MoMA, The Whitney, Magazzino, Frieze (New York & London), and more. The group also strives to offer smaller format events that foster intimate and personal encounters, including Italian themed meet-ups and casual happy hours which have taken place at Artsy’s HQ, conservation studios, and venues across New York City, and conversations with artists and creative leaders, such as the popular event with Shirin Neshat held in Spring 2018.

Inspired by the shared experience rooted in Venice, The Peggy Society has grown into a community of over 370 international former interns from The Peggy Guggenheim Collection and currently welcomes all alumni of the internship program. Having hosted over 54 events in New York (and additional events in London, Berlin, and Venice), The Peggy Society's events are reflective of the diverse and compelling individuals who completed the program. The community continues to create engaging opportunities that build new relationships and provide insight into each other's professional practices with the aim of celebrating Peggy’s legacy, patronage to the arts, and joy for life.
